Orientation
This course develops self-control beyond surface-level restraint, focusing on the underlying structure that produces impulse and governs response. It examines how desire, aversion, and reaction arise from judgment, how they are reinforced through repetition, and how they can be redirected and reordered through disciplined application of reason. The course progresses through five stages: The Formation of Impulse — understanding how impulses are shaped and reinforced The Point of Interruption — recognizing and directing impulse in real time Patterns of Indulgence and Reaction — identifying and replacing habitual responses Endurance and Stability — maintaining control across time, context, and fatigue Integrated Self-Control — establishing internal order rather than constant resistance Each module combines structured explanation with targeted practice, allowing for direct examination and correction of personal patterns. The result is not suppression of impulse, but governance of it. A man becomes able to act according to judgment consistently, without being directed by immediate desire or reaction.
